In the words of the late George Carlin, "I'm completely in favor of the separation of Church and State. My idea is that these two institutions screw us up enough on their own, so both of them together is certain death."
I had a conversation with a friend of mine about this the past week. We were also discussing how important it is to think about what kind of country God wants us to have. One where we are re-writing the marriage law???
This is a tough one, because while my spirituality certainly affects my own beliefs and therefore my beliefs about politics, I don't think it is appropriate to impose religious beliefs through politics.
